The terms are often used interchangeably. Pool plastering usually refers to applying a cement-based plaster finish, while pool resurfacing is the broader process of removing or preparing the old surface and applying a new finish, which can be plaster, quartz, or a pebble aggregate.

The most common options are traditional white plaster (often called marcite), colored plaster, quartz aggregate finishes, and pebble aggregate finishes similar in style to Pebble Tec. Not necessarily. A new finish is a surface coating and does not repair plumbing leaks or structural issues by itself. If you suspect you are losing water, mention it when you contact us so it can be considered before resurfacing.

Acid washing is a surface cleaning process that can remove certain stains and a thin layer of the old plaster. It is not right for every pool or every finish, and it is not a substitute for resurfacing when the surface is failing. We will tell you honestly whether it makes sense for your situation.

The first weeks after a new finish are important. Follow the start-up instructions you are given for filling, brushing, and balancing the water, and keep chemical levels within recommended ranges. Careful water chemistry helps protect the finish over the long term.

Yes. Waterline tile and coping are often replaced or repaired during a resurfacing or remodel so the whole pool looks updated. You can ask for these to be included in your estimate.
